2018 Strom Thurmond Awards

As you may know, in 1983, Senator Thurmond established the Strom Thurmond Awards for Excellence in Law Enforcement to recognize law enforcement officers in South Carolina whose performance demonstrates the highest ideals of excellence in law enforcement.  An annual award is given in each of four categories: (1) city officer; (2) county officer; (3) state officer; and (4) federal officer.  Nominations for the 2018 awards will be accepted by the selection committee through October 9, 2018.    Presentation of the 2018 awards will be made during an LECC/SCLEOA luncheon at Ft. Jackson Officers Club on October 26, 2018.

Nominations should recite background information of the candidate and include such things as: (1) current position; (2) education and training; (3) length of law enforcement service; (4) commendations, awards, and achievements; (5) good reputation and character; and (6) accomplishments which demonstrate that the nominee exemplifies the highest degree of excellence in law enforcement.  Letters of support (limited to five) may also be included in the nomination.
